Legal Question in DUI Law in Missouri

I just got my third DWI in Missouri. What could happen to my license?

I got a out of state DWI in 1996, and a DWI in Missouri in 2001. I then got arrested last weekend in Kansas City for DWI. What can happen to my license?

I just got my third DWI in Missouri. What could happen to my license?

Civilly, any two convictions for driving while intoxicated in a five-year period will cause a license to be revoked for five years, and any combination of three of more convictions for DUI, DWI or BAC (operating a motor vehicle with excessive blood alcohol content or more) within a life time will cause a license to be revoked for a minimum of 10 years.

In addition to the licensing penalities, the criminal matter is even more serious. Depending on what happened in those two prior case, you may be a "persistent offender" under the statute, meaning you have three DWIs in ten years. You would have to talk to an attorney and give more facts to see if your priors would enhance your penalties for three offenses in 10 years or not.

should you be a persistent offender under the statute, the penalties are enhanced, and the charge is a D Felony-- you would be facing up to four years in jail.
