There are different ages for different matters. For some serious crimes, a youth under the age of 18 can be tried as an adult. Generally, an 18 year old can contract and be sued in civil court for breach of a contract or for an outstanding debt on account. Generally, a parent is not required to provide support or housing for their children once they reach the age of 18. But, where parents are divorcing, the noncustodial parent can be required to continue paying support to the other parent, if their child over 18 is attending college, or has a disability.
Good luck
