Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Missouri
Equine lease and other
A year ago I leased out my stallion because I could not keep up his care due to illness in my family. He was losing weight and needed his hooves done but was current on everything else. The lady came out and looked at him and agreed to the free lease after adding a clause so she could breed him and keep the stud fees to help cover costs. We both agree to that. In June I decided to sell him and she doesn't want him but is saying that she wants $8000(she boarded him at a very expensive stable) from his sale to cover her expenses. And has implied that if I don't that she is going to turn all photos and etc over to humane society and have charges of animal neglect pressed. Her lawyer friend gave me a copy of LEXSTAT MOCODE 578.009 saying that this voids out the lease agreement. Would the humane society press charges? Is the lease void? Do I have to pay her this money? Any advice would be a great help.

Without reading your lease agreement and the letter from the other attorney, I, nor I imagine anyone else, can give you accurate advice. If your are willing to share more information, perhaps one of us can help you.
