Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Missouri

Greetings,

I live in Missouri. I have an apartment lease with an ex girlfriend. She moved out 30 days ago. I am not working and living off of savings trying to get into shcool full time. She wants off the lease but to do so would make me reapply. I do not have the income to get approved for a new lease by myself. The leasing office says I don't have to do anything but leave it the way it is to stay. She has threatened get the help of a lawyer to remove her.

What can be done about the situation? Thank you

If she agreed to the lease, she is bound for the length of the contractual term, unless all parties agree to renegotiate. I am not sure what help her lawyer is going to give her as she signed the lease. Unless you forced her out of the apartment, I can't think of a reason that she could get off the lease.

However, if she moved out and you don't pay your agreed share, she might have grounds to pursue you for your portion. Proving who agreed to do what is difficult without a written agreement, but the lease is written and all signatories are bound by its terms.
