The longer you wait to hire an attorney, the more difficult it will be for the attorney gather evidence and take statements. You have five years to file a lawsuit for injuries from a motor vehicle crash.

There is no specific statutory time limit on hiring an attorney, but there is a five year statute of limitations which will prevent you or your attorney from filing a lawsuit if one is necessary. If I were injured in an automobile collision, I would consult with an attorney immediately. Most of us who handle these types of cases will consult with a potential client free of charge and take a good case on a contingency fee basis so that the client will not be required to pay attorney's fees out of pocket. If you do not already have an attorney, you may contact me for a free consultation.
