Legal Question in Health Care Law in Missouri
Returned payment
I sent a check to my doctor as payment on my account. They returned the check to me with a letter stating that the account had been placed with Missouri Medical Collections. 1. Were they suppose to accept the payment and notify this ''collection agent?'' 2. Does their returning the check to me mean the Debt is paid in full?

Re: Returned payment
It means they assigned the debt for collection to a collection agency, and the collection agency is the only one with authority to collect the debt. You need to send the check to the agency.
Their refusal of the check doesn't mean the debt is paid in full.
