i've been placed on the removal proceedings but i'm married to a US citizen. what can i do to obtain permanent residence and prevent deportation?

You need to talk to a good immigration lawyer and see if you are eligible for permanent residency. If you were placed into removal proceedings, it means that the government wants to deport you, and they can do so even if you are married to a USA citizen. If you are eligible for adjustment of status, you might be able to become a resident without having to depart the USA. If, however, you are not eligible for adjustment of status, cancellation of removal, etc - then you may not be able to achive this status without having to depart the USA.
