Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Missouri
10 years ago my mother gave me a family ring. Now she is upset with me and is asking for the ring back. She is saying that it was not a gift and that if she gave it to me, it was by mistake. Several years back I did ask her if she would like the ring back and she said no, it was mine. Do I need to return the ring, can she take me to court? Would it be her word against mine? Do I need a lawyer?

If your mother files suit against you, you shoudl obtain legal counsel. For now, under the facts you described, it appears that your mother made a completed gift to you. Legally she may not be able to get the ring back. But, this is your mother. Are you sure you want to continue bad blood between you two?
Good luck
