Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Missouri

real estate

we are selling our home. 4 years ago our neighbors started to build a house and they got it roughed in. they stopped working on it 1 and a half years ago and it has deteriorated to the point it looks ghetto. Most of the windows are broken---the weeds grow 6 to 7 feet in the summer and the house has no doors and about half of the windows are broken out.

We have had several interested parties in buying our house but all of them ask about next door and what is going to happen. We are just out side any city limits and there is no current by-laws that come into play. Do we have any legal recourse for a civil suit or any way to resolve this through the courts as we have tried to work with our neighbors they seem to not care that they are de valueing everyones property around theirs

Re: real estate

You do have recourse.

First check with the county of your residence to see if there are code regulations regarding weeds and housing violations. Second, you can briong suit for nuisance and seek an injunction to force the lot owner to cure the defects and you have actual damages in the form of loss of market value to your home.
