Yes there are many statutes and ordinances which make it illegal to switch lanes without signalling. Check your ticket. There is usually a box for the officer to check citing the specific law you are charged with violating. Then, you can look up the law the officer cited to see what it says. If I were you, I would hire an attorney to have the charge amended to a non-moving violation so that you can avoid a conviction, avoid points being added to your driving record by the Department of Revenue and avoid your insurance carrier being able to use this ticket as a reason to raise your rates.
