As a Franchise Attorney I can tell you this. The employer is entitled to set and change hours, duties, titles, compensation, benefits, leaves, vacations, holidays, policies, rules, etc. just not retroactively. The unknown is whether your boss represents the employer's policy on disbursement of tips. Perhaps you should check with who your boss reports to. On the other hand, don't do anything that might jeopardize your job. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice, and Happy Holidays.
