Decision making power for my aging mother
My mother is 72 years old. She is of sound mind and body, and we expect her to live for many years. For the past years she has been making extremely bad financial decisions for herself. She will not take any suggestions on how to improve her financial state. She is at the point of running out of money, with probably 20 more years of life ahead of her. Is there a way I can take over my mother's finances without her wishes and manage her affairs?

Filing for Guardianship from the court would give you control over her finances, that is, if you can convince the court she can't take care of herself. Other family members have a say in the process.
