Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

Adoption of an adult with consent

Need to effect a formal legal adoption of an adult child where one parent is the natural mother and the adopting father is the natural mother's husband of 29 years. The natural father is now deceased. The adoptive-child is 36 years old and consenting; further, enjoying legal name change at age 8 to that of the, now, adopting father who raised him and was declared his legal guardian along with his natural mother.

The desired purpose is to protect inheritance rights for this adult child as there are siblings from prior marriages on both sides.

How can we easily effect this adoption?

Adoption of an adult with consent

Nevada law provides for this in NRS 127, but the procedure can be tricky. Suggest you retain an attorney for this - the fees for adoption are really very modest. If you are in Clark County, I hope you will give me a call.
