Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

Termination of Parental Rights

I am planning on terminating my parental rights because my ex wife jsut wont leave me alone, she constantly calls me to harass me and uses my kids and talks thru them. I cannot let this to keep on happening to my kids and me and my new family. I dont get to see my kids at all, they live about 300 miles away from me. I do have visitation rights of once every 3rd weekend, which I don't comply to anymore because its just hard for my kids and me, to spend very little time , and just heartbreaking. Is it possible for me to file for the termination? Or am I stuck in the situation?

Re: Termination of Parental Rights

You cannot unilaterally terminate your parental rights. Your ex would have to agree to it.

Re: Termination of Parental Rights

You cannot terminate your parental rights without your former spouse agreeing and even then if she ever applies for State Aid or State Insurance, the State will try and claim that the termination of parental righs is against public policy and you should have to pay. Alternately, you can ask the court to appoint a parenting cordinator to handle the day the day disputes and report to the court if your former spouse continues to interfere with the visitations, the court can then sanction her or if the alienation is severe, change custody.
