Legal Question in Immigration Law in Nevada

My question is as follows I have been living with my boyfriend for 5 years, in May 2007 we had an argument that ended up in violence(he spit in face, dragged me by the hair and tried pulling me into a car. i wouldnt go in the car so he tells the person driving to take off and he did I wasnt inside the car all the way so I was being dragged at a 15-20mhp which caused my body to be scraped and bruised) When the police arrived I told them everything as it happened and filed a police report and they took pictures. after a few days I was being contated by a detective but I didnt go through to press charges the police department says they didnt keep the pictures but i do have a copy of the report which states more or less what I just explained. Would i be elegible to file for a work permit or resident card being a Victim of Domestic Violence? Thank you in advance.

You need to consult an immigration attorney. In your post, you didn't provide enough information.

If you are not married to that man, you wouldn't be eligible to apply for immigration benefits as an abused wife of a US citizen or permanent resident. If you were married, then yes, there could be a possibility to self-petition under federal law which protects foreign spouses of US citizen and permanent residents.

Victims of domestic violence who are not married to their abusers generally are not allowed to self-petition.
