Legal Question in Personal Injury in Nevada
How can I fire an attorney after signing a contingency agreement?
1 Answer from Attorneys
It is always your right to fire an attorney. The problem is that your fired attorney may claim a lient on your contingency fee case. Before firing the current attorney, I suggest that you consult with a new attorney you like better and see if the new attorney will promise to pay any fee owed to the first attorney out of the new attorney's fee. Otherwise, you could end up paying an awful lot in attorneys fees. If you have a good case and the existing attorney hasn't done a whole bunch of work on the case, you should be able to find a new attorney to accept your case under the condition that the new attorney will take care of the fired attorney's fee out of the new attorney's fee.
