Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Nevada

How do we get a copy of our parents' trust?

Our father passed away in 2002. Our mother just passed away a few days ago. We've been led to believe that there's a living trust that was drawn up years ago. We know that as of today our mother's name is on the house along with my brother's name in parenthases with the word ''trust'' after it. After our father's death our brother cleaned out the house which contained a large coin collection, cash etc. Our mother was in a nursing facility at the time & until her death & really had no control over what he was doing nor was she aware of a lot. Our brother has been very distant & in complete control. Even at our mother's request he would not allow us in her home. We feel very left out, as though we were never even a part of this family. My question is, do my sister & I have a legal right as heirs to receive a copy of the trust? We have no idea if we're even mentioned in it. Our brother refuses to communicate with us. We have no idea who the lawyer was who drew up the trust. Please advise us as we need closure. We will be attending our mother's funeral this week.

You do have a right to get a copy of the trust or will if one exists. You will probably need a lawyer to get it. It sounds like your brother will not voluntarily give it to you, so you may have to go to court to get it. If you need futher help call me at 454-2111.
