Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Nevada

My sister is the executor of my parents trust. When my mother died in Apr. 2009 dad was put in a home because he had Alzheimer's. Sister sent me a trust dated 1999 stating that I was to receive 25% of the estate and dads jewelry. Sister sent me a list of household items I could have but I wasn't able to travel to get any of it. (Parents and sister live in Nevada, I live in CA). When dad died this past March, I waited for an accounting of the estate but never received anything until late August when I received a box from the estate lawyer that had a summary value of the estate and a check for 25% of the estate and Dads 'jewelry". There was nothing of value of the jewelry and I know he had gold chains and watches, a krugerand on a chain, and gold rings including his wedding ring with a diamond. When I questioned Sister, she said that had all been given away years ago but I know that she removed all the jewelry when mom went into the hospital just before Mom died. (I have a witness, dads caretaker who lived in the home with mom and dad). The witness also states that sister fought with mom about the will just prior to moms death and witness says sister got into mom's lockbox and read the current documents and declared "I'll be damned if he gets half of everything!" and took the document. When I asked sister about a reading of the will (after mom died) she blew up and said I didn't deserve anything and refused to talk to me any longer until she called to tell me dad was dying but I couldn't see him because the care home he was in was on lockdown because of a flu. I feel she has defrauded me as my parents estate value was grossly understated and she has stolen what was bequeathed to me.

How can I bring my sister to account?

You can hire a lawyer to file an action in the probate court. However, this is the sort of case that the lawyer will only take if you pay upfront. The big question is how can you prove your allegations. It will be your burden to prove your claims. Just because you find a lawyer to file a case for you for a fee doesn't mean you will win.
