Legal Question in Construction Law in New Hampshire

What rights do I have with a contractor whos delaying our building?

What recourse do I have with our contractor who's building a home for us and keeps pushing our completion date further and further ahead when he verbally gave us a move in date, unfortunately we didn't get the completion date in writing. What can we do to get this completed in a timely manner that it was supposed to be done in since this is costing us thousands of dollars by paying added extra expenses we wouldn't have had to pay if we were in the home by the time he promised us verbally.

The best answer is not a legal answer but a financial answer. Do not make any further progress payments until the job is complete. You're probably too far along to fire the contractor and hire someone else. You're really between a rock and a hard place so you probably just have to stick it out. When you hold his money it is amazing how fast the job gets done. Also before you sign off on the house make sure that you get waivers of lien from all contractors and material men. I am not admitted in your jurisdiction thus I cannot tell you how to do it.

Good Luck!!!!
