Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

I have a permanent restraining order and my son is getting married. My son wants his father at the wedding. My ex says he will not come unless i lift the restraining order. That will never happen but want to make this work . the wedding is in upstate Ny I live in Florida now and my ex lives in New jersey where I obbtained the order.

It would depend on the exact terms of the restraining order. However, it seems to me that there would be no violation of the restraining order if you were sitting on one side of the building (church or wherever) and he was sitting on the other side during the ceremony. Same thing for the celebration. A carefully drafted Consent Order could resolve this without the need to lift the FRO.
