Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey

I live in NJ I need to sue a friend who lives in Miami, I lent her money over $10,000 and it's been over a year. How do I go about suing, what kind of Lawyer do I need to obtain. I have tons of emails regarding the money owed to me, and have yet to see a dime.

This can be challenging, because she is so far away and out of state. There are several problems, including: can you sue her in NJ Court? do you have to go to Florida to file suit or can you make her come here to defend herself? I can answer these problems only after I talk to you and get the needed info.

Give me a call, make an appointment to come see me, and let's get moving on this for you.

Please keep in mind that my response is just a general comment on your question, and not legal advice. Your question and any response does NOT create an attorney-client relationship between you and this law firm. The exact details of your situation and things that you have not mentioned in your question can completely change the answer to your question. You can not rely upon what I have written, because I do not have all of the formation that I need to advise you, I only have the very small amount of information that you put into your question. For me to give you any legal advice, I would need for you to hire me to be your lawyer, and then we would need to discuss this in detail and go over the documents.

To get legal advice that you can rely on and use, please contact me directly. I would be happy to assist you.

As a franchise attorney, I can say the other attorney is right on point here. A couple other questions: (1) do you have a promissory note signed by her? (2) does it specify venue in NJ if there's a dispute? (3) does it have an attorneys' fee clause? This are important issues to evaluate in deciding how to proceed. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
