Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey
If you have a small mortgage on your home, can you still start a small business in your home? I live in New Jersey. The business would be a blog that only generates income from advertising vendors-- no products for sale.

Having a mortgage on your home has no bearing on whether or not you can start a business at home. If you have an one line blog and you have no employees, you have no zoning worries either. The only possible issue's homeowners insurance if you needed to store things or meet clients. You should consider talking with a good tax and business attorney to determine whether or not you should set up your blog as an official business such as a limited liability company.
I hope this helps!
