Legal Question in Construction Law in New Jersey
Should I remove my asbestos siding?
I am looking to get new vinyl siding on my house and I not know the laws in NJ about cover or removing the original esbestoa siding.Does it need to come off or can I cover up the old asbestos siding with new vinyl siding? I have gotten different estimates, some saying that it can be removed at an extra cost and others say that it cannot be removes. What do I do?

Re: Should I remove my asbestos siding?
It can be covered, but sometimes the installation is better if the old siding is removed. You have to balance how much better would the installation be with removal, vs. the cost and difficulty with removal. I'm covering my clapboard siding on my house this summer. If it is removed, be sure the contractor is licensed, insured, and is taking the old siding to a proper disposal facility.
