Not exactly, but the effect may be the same. In some cases, a warranty is offered only to the original purchaser. If the manufacturer sells only through authorized dealers, only purchasers from those dealers would be original purchasers. In other cases the manufacturer offers different warranties in different markets. Items re-introduced into one market by a reseller will only convey the warranty that the reseller has. These are what are called "grey market" goods.
