Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

I'm planning on getting married to a man that has had, and still has some credit and IRS issues. If we marry, will I have any responsibility for his previous debts. Thank you.

Normally, you would not have to pay for obligations prior to your marriage. Nevertheless, if you file a joint return with the Internal Revenue Service, your refund will be taken and you will have to fight for the refund as an innocent spouse. This is time-consuming and expensive. You and your fianc�e should discuss this matter with a good tax attorney.
