Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Assault (M)

My son assaulted someone in 12/2001 and was charged with assault (M). He went to anger management class and paid a fine, he also had 6 months probation. Unfortunately this is showing up in his background check. How can we go about getting his record expunged? It's hard to find a job with this in his background. How much will it cost?

He is probably eligible for expungement which he should seek as soon as possible. If we can be of help, please contact me.

Re: Assault (M)

If this was a simple assault heard out of the Municipal Court then your son has to wait five years after his sentence is completed before he can apply for an expungement. It isn't necessarily hard, but it is tedious and time consuming. I have handled many expungements in the past, and would be happy to discuss your son's case with you or him.

Sincerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq.-
