Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

I am being charged with violation NJS 20-3A the company I worked for policy state to ask for ID only if purchase is more than $500.00 and the purchase was less than that amount and the credit card turned out to be fake I didn't know it. What should I do?

I don't understand how you could not know the credit card you were using was fake. Nevertheless you are charged with a theft offense and are facing heavy fines, possible jail time, and having a criminal record if you are convicted.
