Re: Grand Theft Auto

If the vehicle is worth $500.00 and less than

$75,000.00 it is a third degree offense and punishable by up to five years in prison. If the

vehicle is worth $75,000.00 or more the offense is a second degree crime and punishable by up to ten years of imprisonment and there is a mandatory prison sentence.

Re: Grand Theft Auto

In New Jersey the penalties can include multiple years in state prison and thousands of dollars in fines. I am an attorney who has handled many cases of theft of various types in different courts in New Jersey in the past. Please contact me with the specifics of your case if it is one that arose in New Jersey. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.

Sincerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq.-

Re: Grand Theft Auto

You indicate that you are in Maryland, so you need to repost your question there.

If this happened in New Jersey, then Mr. Moore already answered your question. I would just add that 3 to 5 years is just the normal prison time if convicted and you have a record. If you have no record, you are probably looking at probation if you plea out. If you have a long record, you could be looking at 5 to 10.

I suggest getting an attorney ASAP either privately or by signing up with the PD's office and making an appointment to meet with your assigned attorney. Should you have any additional questions, feel free to contact me. My initial consultations are always free. If you need a Maryland attorney, I can refer you to some good ones.
