Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Motor Vechicle Surcharges

Hello

I am associated with someone that was pulled over while driving his truck. He was given a ticket for not having his name and address on the vechicle. (It was registered under a commercial vechicle). The next ticket was for no registration and the third ticket was for no insurance. What kind of penalties will he have to pay and how does this effect his driving record. Also what baffles me is that he has no license either but was not given a ticket for that. Why is this?

Thank you for your time.

Re: Motor Vechicle Surcharges

-Ticket for not having his name and address on the vechicle.

Penalties: What is the violation cited? (ex. 39:3-10 is driving w/o a driver's license. This one isn't on my violation list)

Effect his driving record: No points

-The next ticket was for no registration

Penalties:$43 + costs assuming you meant he had no registration in his posession

Effect his driving record: No points

-The third ticket was for no insurance.

Penalties: $43 + costs assuming you meant he had no registration in his posession

Effect his driving record: No points, but there is a one year license suspension possible!

-He has no license either but was not given a ticket for that. Why is this?

Perhaps the officer's hand became tired from writing up the other tickets! Seriously, your friend could have been ticketed for this also, so he was just lucky.

If his license was suspended, there are other penalties (additional 6 month suspension). These penalties are 'enhanced' if he lost his license because of a drug or DUI suspension ($500.00 fine), and he could face up to 90 days in jail and an additional 1-2 year license suspension.

Good luck to your friend. It sounds like he needs some help. or at least a good talking to.
