Don't know him at all. May be a great attorney. However, I do a lot of DWI work and I have an office in Toms River, so I can give you an idea of what I think you should look for in a DWI attorney.
How much is he going to charge you? A DWI should be quite expensive relative to the average municipal court matter. This is because there is a lot of work to be done.
Does he use experts? How often, which ones, etc. I use experts in almost every case and they are some of the best in the state.
What is his plan for attacking the case? From the initial consultation with the client, we form a "battle plan". Of course, this may change once we get the discovery. We file up to about a dozen motions on most cases.
Does he have the manuals for the SFS tests? There are two, the teacher manual and the student manual and he should have both in order to properly cross examine the officer.
Bottom line is, there is a lot to do in a DWI case. I see too many attorneys in court who (in my opinion) are taking people's money only to stand next to them and look good while they get the same fines and penalties that they could get by themselves. There really isn't much plea bargaining in DWI cases, so unless the attorney you are looking to hire has a defined plan, you may want to keep looking.
I wish you the best of luck. If you do hire Mr. Abramson, I hope he does a great job for you! If you have any other questions about your case or any other matter, please don't hesitate to contact me.
