Legal Question in DUI Law in New Jersey
My stepson was charged with underage gambling at Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City ; SPA 2009 055557 , and is on the verg of loosing his DL and fines up to $1,000.00. Clean record and 3.9 GPA at Camden Co. College. Without any legal tender , is there anything we can do to let him keep his DL?
We asked for a Court date change and are requested to appear ; again , on 01/12/10 in the ACMC in Atlantic City ...
Sincerely,
Frank

If the charge could be amended to something other than gambling, such as being disorderly, he would keep his license.
I hate to disagree with Mr. Moore, but the Atlantic City Prosecutor''s Office prosecutes 450+ of these cases each year. I have never heard of anyone not having his DL suspended. You cannot take a plea by which he keeps his DL.
Although I cannot give you a definite answer without first seeing the evidence in this case, I will say that nobody shoudl ever go to court without a lawyer if they are facing such serious consequences as this. At the very least you should talk to a lawyer on the phone before going to court on the 12th. Please contact me to discuss your case in more detail. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.
