I can give you a few basics. Under the 'new' alimony law (Sept 2014) your 21 year marriage is long-term, meaning you may pay open durational alimony. division of assets - impossible to give a clear answer without a LOT more information. what kind of real estate, what other assets, when accumulated, and more info.

Many important additional questions. first priority: one child in 8th grade - how much of the child raising is going to be with you, how much with other parent? living arrangements?

To give you an answer that you can really use, you need to meet with a divorce attorney. Hope this brief paragraph helps a bit. but go talk to a lawyer.

I agree with the attorney above, with the amount of money at issue, you should sit down and meet with an attorney. Call me at 1-855-9-JEFLAW to discuss. I have an office in Freehold and Trenton, so I can meet with you to go over these issues.
