Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
alimony - wife to ex-husband
dick and jane version..
ex-Wife makes 200+ thousand...is married for 16 years..gets divorced...equal split sale on house worth 850,000. Prior to sale ex-husband lives in house for 3 years rent free getting 1000/month living expenses. After sale ex-wife saddled with 4000/month alimony...husband claims no income is 62 years old(16 older than wife). Is healthy but doesn't work. For how long does NJ allow this to continue...just an in general answer..and does this sound kosher? and what might be done to alleviate/eliminate this to something reasonable?

I would not answer this question on an anonymous basis; the former husband might be a former or present client of mine.

If that is the deal that they made or the decision of the Court after a trial, it is kosher. The only way to change it is to allege some change in circumstances which requires a review of alimony and possible reduction.
