Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Change of custody for a 17 year old

I have five children, of which one has lived with his father since he got custody of him in 1997 (I did lose custody at the time because he was better able to financally care for my son). My son is now 17 and has been asking for the past few years to come live with me. His father's home situation (loss of home, military career, multiple marriages with some domestic issues, etc.) has deteriorated so bad that my son was told to pack last night by his dad...but then told a few hours later he wasn't going anywhere (this happens quite often). How do I get him home? My son's father refuses to discuss this with me. My son will be 18 in October and still has two years of high school left but just can't take much more of the household he's in. My son currently lives in nroth Carolina but due to his dad's previous military career, the home state was determined to be New Jersey...so that's where I have to file everything.

I want to bring my son home.

You have to file a motion with the court. If you are having so many problems with the courts, I would suggest you get an attorney to help you. It should be difficult to get your son back and it shouldn't be expensive either.

My initial consultations are always free, so call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss your case.
