Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

child support

I have a question concerning child support.

I was charged with a child support order in 1985 for a child from Pa.

I was a minor at the time of the hearing , I did not have any legal representation nor was it offered, no parent with me, nothing, just found guilty and that was it. the child does not have my name, nor have I ever even seen her 1 time . She is now 24 yrs old. The stat claims that I owe all this back support, and my license has been suspended over it.

Also, no paternity was ever established or tested.

My question is, was my trial or hearing legal? Am I really responsible for this considering the facts I mentioned and that she is now 24yrs old? I have always had doubts about her being mine in the first place, but no one ever listened.

NJ court said it was Penn. problem to determine the paternity, but Nj enforced the order.

Any advise would be helpfull

Thank you

Joe

Re: child support

You should seek a dna test; it only costs $100.00. If you are not the father, all the arrears will have to be erased.

Call me if you like.
