Annulment is a legal procedure for declaring a marriage null and void. Unlike divorce, it is retroactive: an annulled marriage is considered to be invalid from the beginning almost as if it had never taken place. I wouldn't worry about the costs. I would worry about doing it the right way the first time. I would need more information on your case. Pick up the phone and call an attorney. Some attorneys, including most that post on this site, have free consultations.

There are some very important differences, very important. How this would affect you depends on your situation. Any children? Any property that you or your spouse bought after marriage? How long were you married? All of these are important, and there is a lot to talk over before you decide what to do. Cost - the cost will depend on the answers to the questions. But you will not be able to save a lot of money by choosing one or the other. You have to know what your rights are, and then make some choices as to how you want things to go.

Give me a call, make an appointment to come see me, and I will go over this with you, and give you some advice.
