It all depends. Alimony is required where there is a marriage and the earnings are widely different. As Mr. Moore said, there is not simple way to determine alimony, it depends on a variety of circumstances. Child support however is all based on a number of calculations with the primary data being the incomes of both parties and the visitation schedule; however, many other factors may impact this calculation. I've seen many child support awards calculated wrong and there is no redress if you discover this years down the road, i.e., even if it is wrong, you can't get your money back. How much you have to pay for alimony and child support depends on a lot of things, including your income and her ability to work and earn even if she refuses to work. There are a lot of other things that affect it, too.
