Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

I want to file a motion to increase child support. A decrease was granted to the father a week ago. I lost my job a couple days later because I went to court and missed a very important assignment and they terminated my appointment. I asked the court to reschedule the court date but they wouldnt. Can I file a new motion to increase my child supoort? What do I need to give the court to show proof? I can not receive unemployment because I havent worked long enough to collect umemployment. Do I need a letter from them to show to the court? And also I am unable to attend, can the court do the increase without me being present?

Generally an appearance for an increase after a motion has been filed is not necessary unless the court requires it. If you are represented by a lawyer your lawyer may appear for you. You would need to supply the court with a certification show ing that you were laid off and what you have done to get new work or unemployment benefits. Denial letter for unemployment would suffice. If you want me to represent you please call my office.
