Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Can I have my marital settlement written so alimony payments do not start until my wife moves out of out house being foreclosed on? I have to move and add the expense of an apartment, she has no payment. She works, I am unemployed, but will be starting a job in the next two weeks. I will also pay child support. I don't have an overall problem with alimony, just not when she does not have rent yet.

Yes, you can make this agreement. If she will agree to it.

You should be talking to your lawyer about this.

If you do not have a lawyer, get one. Now.

If you have a lawyer and can not get this question answered, then fire the lawyer. And get a good lawyer.

You can write up just about any settlement that the other side agrees on. I agree with Mr. Davies, why doesn't your current lawyer answer this question?
