Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

I have been seperated from my husband for 10 years now. We have no property, children or shared assets. At the time of the marriage we were both involved with drugs. I have since then cleaned up and been in recovery for the past 7 years. I contacted my husband about signing papers and he agreed that he would. I mailed them to his mother's home and he has had them for 3 months now. He is in and out of rehab still and lies to me constantly about returning the papers. I have put out almost $600 already for the papers and filing costs. What should my next move be? I cannot really afford a lawyer as I am going to school full time and work part time, but I am at a loss what to do anymore on my own. I live in NJ by the way. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you need to serve him with the lawsuit, and then file for default and get a default divorce.

You can go to the court and ask the clerk for forms for the divorce. you can ask Legal Services for help. If you want to hire an attorney, call me, and I will work with you. I do know how to move this forward. Good luck and let me know if I can help you.
