Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

I live in La and my personal property is in New Jersey .I lived there with a friend and I left personal property there as she told me she would take care of my personal property, not to worry about it .Now she will not return my calls it has been months now and still no call back from her. She also has $2,450.00 of my securty deposit and I have call neighbors, her church and still no call back . It is not like I live around the corner . What do I do at this point? Need some advise please.
