It is important to know what the subpoena is for. Is it a civil or criminal action? Is the subpoena for a deposition, a trial, or a grand jury inquest? Have you been asked just to testify or to also bring records? What is your involvement with the matter? Is there a possibility that you might have any criminal or civil liability in the matter?
Some of these questions (particularly the last) are best discussed in private with your lawyer. The matter could be very important to you or it could be nothing. If you don't know yourself, you should not avoid consulting a lawyer in the hope of saving money. The consequences of being wrong are to serious. If you do not know a lawyer, you might call your county bar referral service.

I have read the other attorney's response to you, and it is completely correct. Until you sit down with an attorney and explain your whole situation, you will not know whether this is a huge problem or no problem. I recommend you spend the $100 or $200 for a consultation, and get some solid legal advice. You should know what you are getting into.
