Legal Question in Immigration Law in New Jersey

My bestfriend's dad bought him to USA without telling him that he is coming here as an illegal person. He has been in here for 4 years and he wants to marry the love of his life which happens to be a US citizen so is it possible that he can marry her without being deported back to his country. And what kind of documents would me need to marry his girlfriend in court. He doesn't have any criminal record in USA.

He will need some form of ID to get married which can be a passport issued by your home country even if it does not have a visa, he can apply for that document at the consulate locally. Did he enter illegally or he is now ilegal? The only possible manner to adjust his status is proving legal entry even if he is now out of status otherwise he would have to go through consular processing abroad and obtain a waiver to return.

I cannot understand why the person in question does not know that he is in the US illegally?

What he will need to provide is proof of his identity by means of a birth certificate or a passport and proof of his address.
