Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey
Wrongful Termination
I think I've been wrongfully terminated by my employer. I was on vacation last week and when I returned I was fired, stating a reason that is untrue and unfounded. I was asked to sign a paper ''accepting'' my termination and the reason, which I refused to do. Do I have recourse against a false accusation?
I must say I was shocked and am wondering if I may have a case. I was pressured slightly into taking a vacation which now leads me to be a bit suspicious. During the five years I worked there, I've received commendations, awards and two promotions.
Thank you for any guidance.

Re: Wrongful Termination
Although there is no cause of action for "wrongful termination" per se, you may still have been terminated for an illegal reason. Your post does not provide enough information. One can be "wrongfully terminated" because of his/her gender, race, religion, age, disability, etc. You are welcome to call and discuss in greater detail.
Re: Wrongful Termination
Unless you had an employment contract, were a member of a union or were discharged based upon illegal conduct of the employer, there is little most employees can do if their boss decides to fire them but I'd be happy to review your situation and give you an analysis if you like.
