Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey
Am I allowed to...?
I have a tenant who has not paid his equal portion of the cable and electric bills from last month. He is constantly leaving his TV on as well as his lights when he goes to sleep. I have asked him and even put into writing to shut them off many times but still does not. Is it within my rights as landlord and to whom these bills are in the name of, to disconnect his TV and electric? He alone is costing me alot of money!! Thank you for your help

You need a lawyer, to be sure you do not get a nasty lawsuit against you which costs you real money.
Do you have a written lease? does it say that the tenant has to pay these things? how much to pay? how many tenants in your building? all of these questions and a lot more, need to be answered before you can get solid legal advice.
New Jersey favors tenants in a lot of ways (not as much as New York, but this is not a landlord favored State). Be smart, get a lawyer.
