Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey
Who is responsible?
my lease clearly states if im found negligent with the boiler i have to pay 4 repairs.i came from a natural gas heated house.ran out of oil. landlord says i have 2 pay 2grand in repair bills. now i dont no squat about boilers. the oil tank is outside the home.no gauge to tell when it is low like a car. how am i 2 check the oil level?i dont no if there was water or sediment already in there? i feel like like im getting rail roaded.i feel that if i told about a oil heated home i would have been better aware on what 2 do.shouldnt they have a oil contract 4 repairs or a guideline when 2 order oil. i dont no what 2 do my lease is up in apr. 08 and i am moving but what can i do about fighting this?

Re: Who is responsible?
Apparently, it is a matter of whether it was you or the landlord who was negligent. It would seem that the landlord in negligent in advising you the kind of fuel ran the heating system.
Call me if you like.
