Legal Question in Military Law in New Jersey
my benefits
i served in the us navy from november 2001 through febuary 2004. i was stationed in norfolk va. my ship was an LHD. we carried marines and their equipment to iraq. we out at sea for 7 months then returned home. i was discharged with other than honorable conditions. i was wondering if that would consider me a veteran, and if so what benefits would i qualify for.

Re: my benefits
Sorry, quite the opposite. With an OTH you are not entitled to any benefits. There is a limited provision for VA medical benefits if you can prove that the discharge was not under circumstances of dishonor. You would not be considered a veteran.
You do have a right, up to 15 years from date of discharge to petition for a discharge upgrade. But such upgrades are rare.
Sincerely.
