Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey
Hi,
I made the mistake of payment of paying y rent every month over the counter in cash into my landlords account for the last 9 months. I have the bank receipts with the last 4 digits of my landlords account number. This was basically because I didn't have an account in the same bank as my landlord and I was stupid enough to not pay by check over the counter at his bank. I have hard copies of 3 of the receipts and photos of 3 other receipts. 3 of the receipts seem to be lost.
I had signed a multi year lease with my landlord 9 months back and he is now getting ideas of putting the property up for sale and is sending me emails asking if I would like to buy.
He has not sent me any email or notice about non-payment of rent (only one email asking me to deposit the rent by the 1st of the month). I have always paid within the first 5 working days of the month.
If my landlord tries to file for eviction on the pretext of non-payment of rent, would he have a case?
Thanks
