Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey
car accident
a woman decided to put her car in reverse and slammed into my car. I wasnt moving. There doesnt 'appear' to be much, if any, damage to my car, but I called the cops anyway. The cops acted lie I shouldnt have bothered and told me there is no law saying we have to report an accident. Is that true? This was in NJ. A 'witness' lied and said she didnt hit me, despite she admitted it, and admitted it while I was on the phone (so someone else heard her say it)

Re: car accident
You say there appears to be no damage. If your concern is that the impact caused some mechanical problem, get it checked out. If there is no damage, why waste your time on this.
Re: car accident
NJ law requires the filing of a police report whenever there is a motor vehicle accident causing personal injury or property damage in the amount of $250 or more. The law does not require filing a report for an accident that causes no personal injury and less than $250 of property damage.
