Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey
Caught speeding but no radar?
I was driving to work recently and noticed a cop. My radar detector did not go off. After I passed him he pulled a u-turn and was now behind me. The entire time he was behind me the radar detector did not go off. He pulled me over and gave me a ticket for 50 in a 25 which carries 4 points. My radar detector has never failed me before and I am led to believe he did not radar me. How do I get rid of this ticket or at least get less points?

You should get an attorney to help you with this to fight the case. There is a lot you can do here.
Call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss your case. My initial consultations area always free.
Re: Caught speeding but no radar?
There are other ways the police use to determine if you were speeding besides radar. Depending upon your past driving history I may be able to get your four point ticket changed down to a 0 point ticket. Please call me to discuss your case in more detail. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.

Re: Caught speeding but no radar?
The cop most likely paced your speed. If the cop claims that he clocked you with radar, then you can request a copy of his certification on using radar, as well as a certification that the radar gun was operating properly. Depending on your driving record, you can most likely have the point reduced and/or eliminated, however a hefty fine would likely result. Please feel free to contact me if you would like representation on this.
Re: Caught speeding but no radar?
He paced you, measuring your speed by driving the same speed you were driving.
Please drive at the speed limit, or reasonably close to it.
YOu may do better with an attorney, I am not sure.
I am not in your area, and can not assist.
Re: Caught speeding but no radar?
The cop probably is not certified for radar so what they do is pace you meaning they drive behind and determine your speed....or maybe it was the new gun that state police have. anyway if your case is not in ocean county, nj i can represent you if you wish I could most likely lower the points to 2 and maybe 0 but no guarantees. if your case is ocean county i cannot speak with you because i am a prosecutor here. my email is [email protected]
